The third month of pregnancy will bring an end to your first trimester of pregnancy. By now you already know that you are pregnant and you will start noticing some physical changes. Your nausea and vomiting will start to ease. The baby by now is already a fetus and is growing rapidly. During this month, you should eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of water.
During the ninth week of pregnancy, your baby’s head will be more upright. You may see your baby move during an ultrasound but you may not feel it. His or her heart will finish dividing into four chambers as the valves begin to form. Your uterus will continue to grow but your pregnancy will not show on the outside. Your cravings will increase and at the same time you might experience heartburn and bloating. Mood swings are also common during this month. You should eat plenty of food that has calcium and fiber. If you experiencing back pain or bleeding, visit your doctor to avoid having a miscarriage.
During the tenth week of pregnancy, the baby’s arms and legs can now bend at the knees and elbows. The vital organs are now in place and starting to function. The head will temporarily bulge due to the growth of the brain. You will start feeling tired and sleepy often. Eat lots of fruits, broccoli, cheese and don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Your breasts and waist will begin to enlarge so you should start shopping for maternity bras and underwear. Swimming and walking are a great way to exercise during this time.
During the eleventh week you will be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat. The genitals will be developing but you still cannot determine the by ultrasound. Tiny tooth buds are forming under the gums and some of the bones will begin to harden. You will be more moody and your hair, toenails, and fingernails will start growing faster. Your skin will be oilier and you might get acne. Eat plenty of calcium for you to have strong bones and teeth. Visit your dentist every month so as to know if your teeth are getting weak. Weak teeth are as a result of low calcium levels in your body. If your diet lacks calcium, the baby will draw it from your bones.
During the twelfth week of pregnancy you baby’s heartbeat can we heard and sex organs are visible. The head is about half the size of the body. By the end of the week, the risk of having a miscarriage will reduce. You will feel energetic and you weight gain by now is from one pound to five pounds. You waist will start thickening and you will feel comfortable in loose clothing. Try and avoid stressful circumstances and take walks.
By the end of this month, your baby will be fully formed. The hand s can open and close. Toenails and fingernails are forming and the external ears have formed. The reproductive organs develop but you still cannot distinguish. The liver produces bile and the urinary and circulatory systems are working. You should take short naps during the day if you can’t sleep at night. Drink plenty of water and eat food rich in calcium. If you lack appetite or your morning sickness has not eased, eat small portions of food regularly. If you haven’t announced the good news yet, this is the perfect time to tell your close relatives and friends. It would also be wise if you tell your boss you are not your third month of pregnancy so you can arrange on when to have your maternity leave.
